How I Stopped Being Bloated Everyday by Healing My Gut



Most people don’t realize that chronic bloating is a sign from the gut that requires immediate attention.

Eating a big meal like during the holidays makes most people bloat. But for me, I kept bloating up ALL the time. I even cut back on my portions thinking this was the reason. 

But nope. I just felt like Violet from Willy Wonka. If you’ve ever been bloated before, you’ll know what I mean. It’s just uncomfortable. 

All my clothes always felt tight. People would ask me when I was due, assuming I was pregnant. “I’m not pregnant. It’s just food,” I’d tell them. 

Even though I was laughing on the outside, I was crying inside. It made me not want to go anywhere at all.

In fact, I was sitting outside on my patio crying one day. My neighbor heard me and came to check on me. I felt so stupid crying about it, but she assured me it would be ok.

“You know, my husband has been saying for years that gut health is one of the most overlooked issues with bloating,” she told me. Her husband is a doctor who I seldom see since he’s always on call at the hospital.

“Really?” I remember asking, blinking back the tears.

And that’s when I decided to do a little digging. It’s amazing what I found out, and once I learned how gut health and bloating are linked, everything changed for me.  

What Usually Causes?

Bloating is caused by gas in the gut. This happens from the foods fermenting in the colon, swallowing excessive air, more fluid in the bowels, constipation, food intolerances, and imbalances in the gut microbiome.

In fact, all of these things affect that microbiome which also affects immunity. When there’s inflammation in the gut, it goes beyond that gassy, bloated feeling. This can even cause hormonal imbalances, fatigue, mood disorders, and chronic diseases. 

While bloating is common, affecting roughly 10 to 30% of adults in the US, what’s not common knowledge is that it can be a direct result of inflammation in the digestive tract.

It’s one thing to eat a big meal and feel bloated. But when bloating happens every day, it’s a sign that something isn’t in balance. 

This is what triggered me to find an anti-inflammatory diet to see if that could resolve my bloating woes.

Anti-inflammatory diets provide a holistic way to better health. Through eating fresh foods along with healthy fats, it gives the gut what it needs to stay balanced with good bacteria. This is key to busting that bloat.


I felt fatigued every day and that bloating wasn’t going away, so I started eating anti-inflammatory foods. In this way, I was stopping my bloating at the source. And soon, I found that by eating the right foods, I was no longer having that food-baby stomach.

With an anti-inflammatory diet, it relieves the inflammation that causes the bloating. By approaching whole health rather than just target one specific area, I found the key to looking and feeling better. 

But there are a few tips I recommend to get the kind of success I’ve had. For one, it’s important to eat the right foods. For another, what works for one person may not work for another.

That’s why I recommend an anti-inflammatory diet. I think that’s the key because if you think about it, none of us are the same. We’re all different heights and weights, and we all have different DNA. That’s why diets that are a one-size-fits-all never work right. 

Initially, I’d started just trying to follow any anti-inflammatory diet I found online. Nothing changed for me until I had one created specifically for me. Once I had a diet plan that accounted for my habits and dietary specifications, I started feeling my best.
