Weight loss isn’t the only thing you need to do to improve your health. Emily shares her story of her health and weight problems and how she turned things around with a simple plan.

When you’re overweight, it’s obvious to everyone, including yourself. But as I began my weight loss journey, I had no idea what the foods I was eating were really doing to my health.

True that I had about 30 pounds to lose, I also didn’t feel well most of the time. I noticed I’d bloat often and that my metabolism was sluggish. And that made me feel tired and achy every day.

At work, I felt like I could just go to sleep at my desk.

In fact, that’s how this all started.

A coworker came by and woke me up. I’d had no idea I’d drifted off after my lunch.

I was worried something was wrong with me so I went to the doctor. It wasn’t good news.

While I knew I needed to lose weight, my doctor informed me that I had inflammatory bowel disease. He said I’d need to change my diet right away to reduce inflammation in my body and to help my gut heal.

I felt like I’d been hit with a sack of bricks, like I didn’t know where to start. I cried for hours, unsure of what to do, all the while replaying what Dr. Taylor had told me.

Common Mistakes Everyone Makes When Trying to Improve Health and Lose Weight

According to my doctor, one of the biggest mistakes people make when they’re trying to get health back on track and drop weight is that they’re not getting the right vitamins. He said B vitamins were important for fighting fatigue, especially when getting calories under control.

They’re in whole grains and because I wasn’t eating any carbs, I was actually setting myself back. I had so little energy, that’s why I fell asleep at work and wasn’t productive.

My other problem was that I wasn’t getting enough fiber. Dr. Taylor told me that fiber helps the gut stay healthy, which is critical for autoimmune illnesses like IBS among others. He said I could also get it from fruit and vegetables too and that it will give me more vitamins and minerals that will boost my energy and balance my hunger and digestion.

The doctor had asked me a bunch of questions about my sleep patterns, what I ate, and my stress levels. He said that my body was not producing leptin properly. I didn’t even know what leptin was, but he explained it’s a fat-controlling hormone and if your body makes too much of it, your brain misses the message.

Even though this information was helpful, I wasn’t sure what to do with it. That would all change when I called my mom.

She said my aunt Judy had just started using a personalized anti-inflammation diet because she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and her doctor had recommended it. “Wait until you see her…she looks amazing!” Mom had told me.

“Could this work for me too?”

I wondered to myself as I rang the doorbell. In an instant, I was greeted by my aunt Judy. Indeed, just as Mom had said, she looked amazing. She’d been a bit hefty over the last few years and she always looked a bit unwell. It was incredible to see her so healthy and full of life.

As she told me about how she focused on getting her overall health together and reducing inflammation to help with her symptoms of RA, I felt like I could see a light at the end of the tunnel. Unlike other diets though, she used one that was customized for her specific situation.

She sent me the link she used and told me to take the quiz. “You won’t regret it,” she said. “I’ve never felt better.”

How I improved my health with a personalized plan

After I got back home, I opened Aunt Judy’s message and clicked the link. There was a quick quiz with questions about my metrics and lifestyle. Once I was finished, it created a customized plan for me.

There were lingering doubts in my mind, but when I remembered what my aunt had looked and acted like before all this, I knew I needed to try it too.

I loved that everything was easy to follow in a step-by-step way. I didn’t feel lost or confused. And after a few days, I started noticing that brain fog and fatigue lifting away. Soon, the bloating and annoying IBS symptoms abated too. After a week, I noticed I was down a couple pounds.

As I kept up with my own personal plan, I started to feel confident and happy with myself. I was sleeping better every night and waking up feeling alive and energetic. I hadn’t felt that way since I was a child.

Following this plan has given me my health and my life back all because it focuses on the underlying cause of health problems and weight gain…inflammation. Once you handle that, you will feel better than ever!
